There are many ways to create a successful straw bale building. If you want to build with straw it is advisable that you follow the following core principles:

A good Hat

A good hat protects the top of the wall from rain, often with a large overhang.

A good Coat

A good coat (wall covering) gives a weatherproof, flexible and vapour permeable covering both inside and out.

A Good set of Boots

Good boots (foundation or plinth) raise the straw up above the ground water and often include insulation and are self-draining and flexible.
