We are proud to welcome Agreka Build as the newest member of Straw Building UK.

Agreka Build is the company behind WHEATEX – the world’s first circular, biobased insulation board made entirely from waste wheat straw. Free from synthetic binders and chemicals, WHEATEX combines thermal and acoustic performance with fire and mould resistance. It is locally produced in Cheshire and represents a major step forward in scaling low-impact construction materials for mainstream use.

In the last year, Agreka Build has received two major accolades: the Future 50 Award from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, and the Big Innovation Pitch Award at Futurebuild 2025. Both recognise the technical ingenuity and climate potential of their work.

Agreka Build joins SBUK at a time when natural materials are moving to the forefront of sustainable construction. We are excited to support their journey and to champion WHEATEX as part of the UK’s growing biobased economy.
